Homeless refugees, causes and how to prevent them

Being a refugee is one of the most difficult experiences a human being can have. The word refugee has different meanings, but all refugees share common traits: they are forced to flee their country because of a well-founded fear of persecution due to violence, war, or violation of human rights. They search for safety in another country and eventually settle in a new place.

One of the biggest social problems leading to homelessness among refugees is a lack of support for people who have experienced trauma. Many refugees were forced to leave their home countries because of war or natural disaster—and others were sent away from their homes by the government due to their ethnic backgrounds, religion, or sexual orientation. These events can cause severe emotional trauma and make it difficult for refugees to create a new life in another country.

Several things can be done to prevent homelessness among refugees, such as providing housing assistance programs and community support services such as mental health counseling or substance abuse treatment programs while taking into consideration the cultural background that individuals come from. These programs enable refugees to get back on their feet while they transition into their new life beneficiating from opportunities, they wouldn’t otherwise have access to if they were still living in their home country.
